TSH Levels
At Owen's 4 month check up his doctor wanted to check his thyroid levels. After about 5 minutes of the lab tech squeezing Owen's poor little thumb to get the blood sample we found out we have to do it all again. The doctors office called and said that Owen's TSH levels were a little high. However, for some reason that was the only hormone they were able to test with that sample. So we're going back on Wed. so they can recheck it. Hopefully it's an easier draw this time and everything looks ok.

Morgan's always had to have her annual thyroid test done with a blood draw. Wonder why they chose the finger poke? Good luck. Nothing is worse than watching them poke and poke on your baby.
ReplyDeleteKheaven is finally old enough to be tested at the doc's office, we were going to the hospital lab before that. So last week they poked him THREE times before getting any blood. This was after three immunization shots. :-( We feel your pain. :-S Hopefully next time Owen, (and Kheaven) only need one poke. :-S
ReplyDeleteoh yuck! blood draws are the absolute worst! Praying for good results next time through!
ReplyDeleteAsk them to use a hot pack and do it on his heal or toe. That worked great for Brady. The heat makes the blood flow better. You can always request these things as the parent. Don't let the Doctor bully you. I have learned we know way more as parents than the doctors. :)
